The waves that rebound after hitting an object such as a cliff or ice will collide with the incoming waves to create clapotis. As a sea kayaker these waves can be quite a challenge if they are of any size.

Was making dinner tonight and my wife had to call me from her car to tell me to look out the window! Set the tripod up in our living room and had to shoot through the window.

Boyne gives schools a great break on lift tickets, pizza, rentals and a lesson. I was forced to chaperone! The sun came out for a bit and the 54 kids and teachers had a blast…….

Sorry about the lack of Jolli photos lately…..I’m sure some of you are interested to see what it looks like here in the winter. For one thing, the sun doesn’t visit us very often. Today the temp. is up to 21 deg with a slight breeze. In other words it feels quite nippy! Lake Leelanau is frozen and a few hardy souls have been venturing out onto it. The ski resorts are happy and most have 100% of their runs open. Aaron, my son, was over at someone’s house last night for a party and there were 5 snowmobiles! Let’s see…..14 thirteen year olds and machines that go fast……I hope all limbs are still intact! Stay warm everyone!

No wind and the snow is falling in huge flakes. One of my favorite spots to hike when it gets like this is just north of the lodge in an old field with fruit trees. It’s hidden by a tightly woven cedar forest. The deer love it here because of the protection from the elements and also the endless supply of young cedars to munch. 5 inches of snow and counting since early this morning….
